About Us

Windsine Inc. is a full service renewable energy design and installation company located in Westhampton, New York (Long Island).

"We make renewable energy work better for you." This ability comes from our understanding of energy and how it changes forms. Our unrivaled hands-on technical experience enables us to engineer unique solutions for each individual customer.

The Windsine Crew are responsible for the installation and oversight of over 100 independent Solar PV (Photovoltaic) and Wind electric systems. The majority have been Grid-tied configurations, while a large amount have been Off-grid (Stand-alone). View the Picture Gallery.

With regard to system design and installation, we know how to do it efficiently; but better yet, SAFELY. We know what the customer expects, and we know what the electrical inspectors want to see.

Most importantly, we know that our customers' homes and lives RELY on the systems we install. Therefore, we take a logistical approach to each new project so as to strike a balance between practicality and marketability.

The Windsine Facility

We stand out from other companies because of our inherent enthusiasm for and 100% dependency on our own renewable energy technology.

The Windsine Office relies on PV and Wind as its ONLY SOURCE of energy. As a result, our designs simply HAVE TO work, or we don't! Literally! Our hybrid solar panel and wind turbine system has no connection to the utility grid (LIPA) and the facility has been self-sufficient for over 8 years.

Founder, Roy Rakobitsch

Renewable energy technology is more than just our trade; it's also our hobby.

When Windsine's Founder and President, Roy Rakobitsch, became interested in renewable energy (RE) over 15 years ago his main focus was in Off-grid system design. However, because a relatively reliable electric service provider exists on Long Island, Long Island's Green industry today has favored Grid-tied systems. Fortunately for Roy, one who has mastered Off-grid design effectively has mastered Grid-tied design as well, since the two share many common principles.

Roy's know-how originates from his well-acknowledged obsession with science. Despite the recent incorporation of the company Windsine, Roy has been involved in solar and wind energy production since he was a teenager. Stemming from an interest in Amateur Radio, Roy began to experiment with mobile energy sources. Since that time, he has been continuously engineering and testing new RE designs on Beaverdam Organic Farm in Westhampton. Testing not only involves determining how and why solar panels and wind turbines function, but also the inverse, how and under what circumstances do they NOT function?

His successes (and failures) allow him to know renewable energy, inside and out. Notably, Roy has taken it upon himself to custom fabricate many wind turbines completely from scratch, including blades, alternators, towers. Despite being very challenging and laborious, he has repeated the process many times over in order to perfect his creations. Naturally, he has also trial tested and compared ample varieties of commercially available solar and wind hardware at his own home, allowing him to stay at the forefront of new design and judge different makes and models according to efficiency, durability, and overall quality.

"I feel there is a certain "romance" to wind energy and that there is nothing more satisfying or mysterious than watching a turbine quietly spinning away, producing clean, free electricity."

Moreover, Roy is affiliated with several local, national, and international organizations, including internet message boards. See Affiliates and Certifications.
